“We’ve been waiting ten years for this!” – shouts Dan Snaith on his first ever gig in Brazil. In a crowded but not packed Clash Club, a techno and electro club in Sao Paulo, Caribou delivered a energetic and very powerful gig.The crowd seemed to know the songs, specially from their last album, “Swim”, relased in the early months of 2010.
The cheers and applause were just enough to bring the band back for the encore.
When they played the massively acclaimed track “Sun”, it showed that probably the Brazilians aren’t yet ready for the innovative sound the Canadians play.
In a country where internationally acclaimed domestic bands like CSS are just regularly popular, is hard to predict how any band will perform.
And Caribou, even though very enthusiastic about the concert, with Dan Snaith himself asking to DJ the after party, seemed to just not quite hit the spot among the tupiniquins.
It will be interesting to see how they progress over the next ten years!
